An Eye Chart For Makeup Glasses?

The chart you see off to the left here is definitely not for makeup glasses. It was a distance chart that was used by eye professionals many years ago and has long been replace by much more sophisticated and expensive equipment. That’s how they get the big bucks now. Someone has to pay for that expensive equipment that replaced this simple distance eye chart.

Now quite often I am asked if there is a similar type of eye chart for makeup glasses. Well actually the answer is both yes and no. Yes, in that we do have a chart for magnifying makeup glasses that is probably more tailored for readers. Keep in mind that readers are generally worn for extended periods of time, while makeup glasses are worn only brief periods.

And no, since the makeup glasses eye chart cannot take into account the comfort level of the person behind them. Some are quite happy with the same focal distance as readers, while others want more detail.

Here is a link to the eye chart for readers. It must be printed out because screen resolution varies among computers. Click Here for the chart.

In general, we recommend an increase of at least +.5 over simple readers.
