How should I do my eye makeup?
I am in high school and I can do all of my makeup except i have trouble with eye makeup. Can anyone give me any tips and directions for application for something pretty, but that doesn’t look too over done?

I have the perfect eye makeup for you
To make your eyes pop I suggest using black eyeliner on the top lid only. This will bring out your brown eyes and give you a sultry but not overdone look. The easiest kind of eyeliner to apply is the pencil or roll up. Liquid eyeliner creates a more dramatic effect but takes precision and patience and can create a mess if it is not applied properly. You can find pencil or roll up eyeliner and Raley’s or an other local grocery store. Jet black mascara is a good addition to the eyeliner. Apply two coats of mascara on top and bottom lashes. I recommend the brand “GREAT LASH” mascara by maybelline, also found at grocery stores. I do not recommend using eye shadow because it takes time and patience and you have to go to expensive stores like bare escentials to find a good one. Hope this helps!

Anyone have wedding make up tips for Asian eyes when one eye has a fold and the other doesn’t?
Here is my predicament.
I getting married in about 40 days. I normally don’t wear a lot of makeup. Heck, I only sometimes put some foundation on, but is about it. I don’t ever put on eye make up unless it is for a special occasion, and even that is rare.
Part of the reason is because my eyes are shaped differently. I am half Asian, half Caucasian. One of my eyes has a fold, and the other doesn’t. (This does not mean that one eye looks “white”, but rather it does have a natural crease).
Here is a photo to help you get the idea. http://www.flickr.com/photos/43559727@N06/4704644187/
This makes putting on makeup very frustrating for me as I cannot put the same technique/application for both eyes to make them look the same. And because of this, I do not have the most experience putting on eye makeup.
Any tips for getting a natural look with using eye liner, eye shadow, and mascara with my eyes?
(Oh, and if I could afford the extra $250 for a makeup artist, I would, so that’s why I’m doing this myself. Thanks!)

I have the EXACT, SAME PROBLEM with my eyes!!
It gets SO annoying!
Here are some tips -
Make sure you wear a good primer! Invest in one, it’ll save you in the long run. Go to sephora and try Urban Decay’s Primer Potion. It will keep your eyeshadows on your eyelids and it will prevent them from creasing.
Try shimmery neutral shades – nothing too crazy and glittery. Just pearly champagne colours and browns. Blend a champagne color on your eyelid. Add a little bit of a darker brown in the outer corner of the eye. For the eye that is monolid(or folded), bring the colors a bit higher up so they look even.
Line the eye lids with a thin line of black liquid eyeliner. Make sure you wait a couple seconds for it to dry so you don’t spoil your hard work!
For mascara, I would go for a waterproof one that’s more volumizing. Try covergirl lashblast in very black. Get the waterproof version.
Try some false eyelashes that aren’t too dramatic – something that isnt too theatrical or dark. Here’s some lashes you can try out – (Go to your local drugstore and see if you can pick up any eyelashes that look similar to number 124 in this picture.)

As for lash glue, try DUO lash glue. You can normally find it at the drugstore.
As for foundation, I would try Revlon ColorStay foundation from the drugstore. Its a long wearing foundation, and costs around ten dollars. Then, set with a powder. Try Maybelline Dream Matte powder. Can be found at the drugstore as well.
For blush, try a peachy pink/rosy pink color. As for the finish of the blush, it depends on your skin. If you have larger pores, try a matte blush. If you have smaller pores and clearer skin, try one thats got a bit more shimmer. Sweep the colour on the apples of your cheeks (smile to find the apples), a light dust of it on your forehead, and jaw line. I would try a covergirl blush. For longer lasting results, apply a cream blush, then go over with a powder blush thats similar in colour. Be sure to use a light hand.
Try ecotools brushes from the drugstore! Those brushes are pretty good quality.
For lips, apply a lipbalm. Let it soak in for a couple minutes. Then, apply a coral coloured lip stick. Then, go over with a lip gloss that’s either the same colour or a lighter pink. For lipgloss, try Wet N Wild MegaSlicks in Candy Apple. For lipstick, try the maybelline color sensational lipstick. Those can both be found from the drugstore.
For eye makeup, I would just purchase from sephora. It may be a bit pricier than drugstore makeup, but the quality of the products and how they perform on your big day will be worth it.
WHOA long post, but i just have a lot of advice to give, I guess. I hope I wasnt rambling too much… Hahahaha. Try youtube, its the best and easiest way to get help for makeup. Search “asian monolid wedding makeup” in the search bar.
Good luck!

makeup: eye liner application…?
i’ve been using eye liner since i was 13, so for about a year (because, i just turned 15 a couple of months ago), and i was wondering if there’s a “unique” way to apply it that will stand out among my friends who wear makeup. one girl wears liner on both her top and bottom lash lines, and another one of my friends used to wear colored liner on her top lash line only. i like a more classic look, but with a little bit of an edge, or a difference, (when it comes to makeup), so i use black liner and i did put it on my waterline and on my bottom lash line as well. but, my sister recently told me that i look like a raccoon with it just down there on my bottom lash line. i promise you though, i barely wear any at all, and i smudge it with the smudge tip applicator that comes with it! it looks really natural and like my eyes are just defined, and not lined, you know? (also, my sister hates makeup and doesn’t wear it). *sorry if this is a long “question”, but i am going back to school tomorrow, sophomore year-and was wondering if i should update my look.
*should i continue doing the liner on my waterline/bottom lash line?
*or, should i switch it to the top lash line only?
**does liner only on the top of my eyes stand out as much as it would if it was only on the bottom?**
thanks to all who answer!
i have brown eyes, so thats why i use black liner, because if i use brown, itd be too much “brown” with my brown glasses, brown hair, and brown eyes….=)

Ok here’s what i think ![]()
i use a little bit of eyeliner like you do, just to define your eyes, refine your look and bring out the best ![]()
i wouldnt use to much, especially if you want to stay and look natural. If you use a lot, it will be really heavy, a really thick black line (Trust me, you dont want that, it looks ugly if you use too much) and just weigh down. So i dont think you need to update your look. Its a great one. I have brown hair too, and i would just suggest using a dark color eye liner. If you wantan even more natural look, use dark brown. It fits your eyelashes and eyebrows. But if you want it to show a little more, black is fine. I would suggest just a thin line right on the bottom of your eye/waterline. Its less noticable if you apply as close to the waterline as you can. Try to make both eyes look even. Then use a smudge applicator (i prefer a finger) and lightly go over it and smudge it a bit (so it doesn’t stand out TOO much. You already do this) and yea, i like just to define it like you. I think your look is great, nice and natural, simple but great. Its an amazing one and im sure it looks good. Dont go and update it and make it weird just to stand out. I think it is less noticable on the top. Its hard to apply and you cant see it with your lids and stuff unless its thick which isnt too pretty. So i would stick to the bottom line. Its much more noticeable, brings nice attention to your eyes. Only on bottom – your eyes tends to look there first and since theres no lid or flaps (haha), its much more open for people to see. I hope this helps! Have a great sophomore year too!
